So many things I loved about this hotel.
The front facing staff spoke excellent English. The receptionist walked us to the room since the layout of the hotel is a little confusing. Our room was spacious and comfortable with a king sized bed, a desk, love seat, coffee table, chair with foot rest, TV/cabinet. The best part was the room included a balcony with a table and two chairs and a gorgeous view of Trier and a wonderful tree that created a bit more privacy. The room also included a coffee maker, mini bar, and 4 handcrafted chocolates upon arrival. The bathroom was two parts–the toilet separate from the sinks and showers. In the main bathroom was a large bathtub with herbed bath salt, double sinks, and light-up make up mirror.
● The hotel amenities included pools and sauna and the hotel provided bathrobes, slippers, and extra towels for the use of these amenities. The outdoor forever pool was heated. There were maybe 15 lounge chairs but none were available any of the times we tried to visit the pool so we never stayed there which was a real pity since it had a wonderful view of Trier. Aside from the loungers or in the pool, there was no other space to be at that pool. So instead we enjoyed the heated indoor pool which was a very beautiful setting and no one was using it. At the indoor pool were showers, cubbies, a lounging alcove, and relaxing room. The sauna area was textile free. There is an area to change and shower there along with a relaxing room. There were several sauna rooms including 48 and 90 degree C and a wet sauna at 56C. The grounds of the hotel were gorgeous and well maintained. In front is a glass enclosed gazebo for gathering and beside that is a koi fish pond. At the lowest end of the property is a sunbathing area with grass and gardens and lounge chairs.
● The restaurant and bar were excellent. The bar included a terrace perfect for watching the sunset, lots of comfortable chair and couches. The restaurant included several indoor areas and a terrace. The dinner food was exceptional and the staff very helpful. The drinks were well made. I loved the breakfast buffet–there were even more options than you typically see at a fully stocked European hotel buffet so in addition to the regular items of cereals, cheese and meats including fish, breads and pastries, there was also a Mediterranean section of olives, grape leaves and vegetables. There were many different types of jams, honey, and juices along with several varieties of yogurt, puddings, and mousse.
● The location was in a very nice part neighborhood and on the hill overlooking the city yet only less than a kilometer away from the old city center. Since the hotel is on a hill, it is uphill coming back when you are tired–yet the walking path to and from the old city to the hotel is paved, easy to follow, and has slow steps that are not steep. Finding the hotel itself was tricky since it is tucked into a neighborhood and has little parking in front. The hotel garage is below ground.
Very good hotel. I can’t find anything bad to say about it. We booked an arrangement and it was perfect. Very friendly and helpful staff, very spacious room, beautiful outdoor and indoor pool, relaxing saunas, garage to charge your bicycles and car, amazing breakfast…. We can only recommend this place!
Fist night of our river moselle bicycle ride. We arrived via train at the Trier Bahnhof and were totally freaked because of the scene of sketchy dudes with credit card skimmers, graffiti and zero taxis. We hoofed it to Villa Hugel in 85 muggy heat and by the time we arrived the staff took pity on us and helped us with our bags. We felt like we passed into Valhalla when we saw the dinging areas, pool, and room. The pool is a roof top pool with sweeping city views. Staff and the hotel have the bike tours dialed. No need to worry. Staff also has the breakfast down. I literally mean one of the best breakfasts we have had in Germany. Easy walk to Altstadt and the Roman ruins. Neighborhood is super quiet and like all German hotels they have those crazy high quality windows that cancel any and I mean any street noise. When in Trier, Villa Hugel is THE best
Such a beautiful hotel! The service was amazing, so professional, helpful and efficient. Everything super clean. Delicious drinks at the bar. And the breakfast was a highlight! Loved staying here and wish we could've stayed longer.
An excellent hotel. The pool and sauna facilities are great, and the view from the balcony / restaurant is very pretty. The staff are very pleasant and helpful, the only comment is that the rooms are a bit dated but my feeling is they will change that soon. My bed was very soft, I like a hard bed. Otherwise perfect.
This is undoubtfully one of the best hotels in Germany. The kindness and hospitality from arrival to departure and with attention to the smallest details to make your stay perfect, renders your stay to a satisfying memorable experience and are unmet. The facilities in the hotel are impecable and spotless. On top of this all the food during an abundant and tasty breakfast and the diner service is of outstanding quality as are the selections of wines. The location is very close to the city center about 15 min walk. It is the best place to enjoy and celebrate life and come to a relaxing experience in a warm and friendly high quality environment where a friendly smile is never an effort for the staff.
Excellent hotel and spa in the hills above central Trier. This was our first stay at the hotel and we look forward to returning. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Although the breakfast was quite good, I felt the dinner we had one night on the property could have been a bit better.
Lovely rooms of different sizes, amazing swimming pools. Perhaps the most comprehensive breakfast layout I have ever seen. Also lovely views over the city. Not cheap, of course. Also not suited to people with disability.
